Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

The CDBG program was established in 1974 by the passage of the Housing and Community Development Act. The program has at its primary objective to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expanding economic opportunities, “principally for persons of low income.” The program has considerable flexibility for communities to address its unique public services, affordable housing, economic development, public facility, and infrastructure needs. Annually, the County generally receives approximately $1,200,000 from the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

CDBG Rental Assistance Program

The CDBG Rental Assistance program assist low income families with obtaining or maintaining decent, safe, and sanitary housing. Families living in motels or hotels, living with family members, or in any other unstable housing environment, may qualify for up to two months rent, security, and utility deposit. For families living in existing stable housing, the program may assist with up to two months of emergency rental assistance; provided the family shows justification for the hardship (unexpected car repair, medical bill, loss of wages, etc...) and future financial management.

CDBG Health Clinics Osceola County Community Health Clinic

The County partnered with the Osceola County Health Department to open an afterhour’s health clinic in Buenaventura Lakes (BVL) located at 2597 Boggy Creek Rd. The Clinic is open to all County residents but primarily serves uninsured and underinsured low income residents. Some of the services provided at the Clinic are: general primary medical care, voluntary family planning, immunizations, well child, and women’s health; diagnostic laboratory and screenings for cancer, communicable diseases, cholesterol, blood lead tests; pediatric vision, and hearing. WIC Services are also provided to pregnant, breastfeeding and non-breastfeeding post-partum women, infants and children up to their 5th birthday.

Intercession City and Campbell City Health/Dental Clinic

The County partnered with the Osceola County Health Department to assist with the rehabilitation of a site to locate a highly needed Clinic between Intercession City and Campbell City. The Clinic is located at 1701 Business Center Lane, Kissimmee, FL 34758. In addition to the services provided at the BVL location, the clinic will also offer dental care.
